Don't Let's Restart

Right now I'm staring at a blank blog page. Well, not anymore since I just typed the words "Right now I'm staring at a blank blog page" and this follow-up sentence. The point I'm trying to make is that I'm entirely lost for something to write. To add to my frustration, a helpful little box that blossoms from the task bar keeps asking me to restart my computer. I really don't want to so I don't know why it keeps insisting.

Here's the problem: I decided to install the updates Windows XP was kind enough to download while I was off doing whatever it is I do. It asks me, "Dave, would you like to install these updates now?" and I was all like "why the heavenly hell not?" So it did. But now, it really, really wants a nice reboot in the bum so it can awaken anew, ready to dazzle me with new fixes I'm bound to not notice. I, on the other hand, still have work to do so the restarting is going to have to wait. But like a impatient child on a long car trip, Windows just keeps on asking "Can we restart yet? Can we restart yet? Can we restart yet?"

Dialogue Box

So have they dumbed computers down enough that Windows can't trust the average user to know how to restart the operating system? If you truly are unsure of how to perform that most basic of Windows tasks, just call up your five year old nephew. He'll walk you through it. Or just unplug it and then plug it back in. Computers love it when you do that.

Number of times the "Restart the Computer" dialog box popped up while typing this: 4.
