"Enough with the Depeche Mode already, Sirius!"

Since 1981, Depeche Mode has released 11 studio albums worth of original songs - and the New Wave station on Sirius is hell-bent on playing every single damned one of them!

Sirius' favorite sons!
First, I should point out that I have nothing against Depeche Mode. They've release some great material during their career. But when I want to listen to them, I'll pop in their CD. When I want to listen to a nice mixture of New Wave classics of bands that aren't only performed by David Gahan and company, I'll turn on my Sirius receiver. Stupid, I know.

I do have other musical interests besides New Wave. My receiver's memory has stored in it stations dedicated to Classic Rock, 80's Pop, Old School Rap, and Independent Label bands. It's just that when I don't feel like jumping around channels, "1st Wave" (the channel's official name - because calling it simply 'New Wave' would have made too much sense) has the highest rate of success with my ears' fickle nature. That is, until they play their hourly Depeche Mode song and I roll my eyes long enough to lose sight of the oncoming danger in the road.

You think I'm exaggerating about their throbbing hard-on for this band? Last May, they dedicated an entire weekend, no shitting you, to nothing but Depeche Mode songs. Have they done that with any other band? Not that I know of. With the money I paid for the Sirius receiver (not counting subscription) I could have purchased all eleven of Depeche Mode's studio recordings and had myself a "Depeche Mode" weekend EVERY weekend! Or, for even cheaper, I could just beat myself over the head with a cinder block.

They should stop fucking around and rename the station, "Depeche Mode & Friends". Why not? There are entire stations on Sirius dedicated to nothing but Rolling Stones and Elvis songs. Of course, I don't tune in to those stations because if I wanted to listen to nothing but those artists, I would have just bought* their CD's.

Here's what I propose to Sirius: Admit that there are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of equally deserving artists fitting under the umbrella of "New Wave" that you could play. Utilize your vast library of Depeche Mode in moderation and limit their play to only a few times a day. And if I hear "Strangelove" just one more damn time, I'm replacing your spot on the speed tuning buttons with Channel 112: "Martha Stewart Living".

You've noticed that too? They also play too much U2 - even though I like them.

I think you should realize that all music on the satellite services gets repeated all the time. That's the big complaint with Sirius and XM. I still like it though.
