I Hate Talking on the Phone

I just got the Droid. I like using it for many things. I just hate talking it on. It's not the phone's fault. I hate phone conversations in general.  I have nothing personal against the people with whom I'm speaking. I just happen to get very antsy when I'm on the phone, like I want to be doing something - ANYTHING - else at that very moment.

Electric Dreams: The Movie DVD Has Forgotten

D.C. Cab, Girls Just Want To Have Fun, My Bodyguard, Just One of the Guys, Midnight Madness:   That was just five examples of semi-obscure 80's movies that have made the leap to DVD over the years.  But why no love for Electric Dreams?  It's a fun, music-filled, geeky amalgamation of science fiction, technology and romance.  With our current economic climate, rising gas prices, depletion of the ozone layer, and lower standardized test scores, we can't afford NOT to have this classic 80's flick on DVD.

Is Your "Google Finger" Broken?

Greetings and welcome to 2010. We're living in a technological wonderland where you can look up anything from a wide array of different devices.  Knowing that, maybe it's about time we stop asking other people questions that we can answer ourselves much faster.

Load Times: A Personal Flashback

It's 2008. I no longer want to wait more that three seconds for my entertainment to get with the "entertaining". I want to snap my fingers and have instant gratification for my senses. Perhaps I'm being a tad unrealistic, but when I load up a DVD or video game, I shouldn't have to wade through a cesspool of unskippable copyright warnings, previews or animated developer credits.

The Vista Ad About Nothing

Jerry and your BSOD
Microsoft recently announced that they have enlisted the aide of Jerry Seinfeld to help move a few more units of their Windows Vista operating system. This move is intended to counteract the line of successful commercials from Apple featuring Justin Long playing the literal personification of a Mac, as he smugly demonstrates his superiority over a middle-aged, malady-ridden gentleman playing the role of a PC. If Microsoft pulls this off, we'll start equating the PC with jokes about airline food and a strong revulsion towards chubby mailmen.

The Future is Ruined!

Invisible Man
It looks as if we are not to far-off from perfecting cloaking technology. Scientists from Berkley have created a material that bends light to make it appear as if the subject wearing said material isn't really there. In essence, you are invisible.

I Won't Be Buying a PS3 Anytime Soon

Last night, I got to talking with a couple of guys, each telling me that the Playstation 3 they received for Christmas was amazing. I listened to their stories of the crisp, lifelike pictures displayed before them when they popped in some Blu-ray movies. I walked away with an admission that it indeed sounded awesome, but then slowly realized that neither of them really talked about the games it was capable of playing.

Those conversations further validated my stance on not getting a Playstation 3 anytime in the near future.

Allow Me to Slap That Thing Out Yer Ear!

Our hearing-impaired brothers and sisters have long had technology working overtime making their hearing aids smalling and more inconspicuous. Meanwhile, the cell phone toting public has taken to walking around with large, imposing-looking earpieces permanently lodged in their cochlea. Why? So they can save the entire second or two it would take to manually lift the phone up to their ear. All that time they'll save over the course of an average lifespan could be used to give coffee an extra stir in the morning. Outstanding!

"Enough with the Depeche Mode already, Sirius!"

Since 1981, Depeche Mode has released 11 studio albums worth of original songs - and the New Wave station on Sirius is hell-bent on playing every single damned one of them!

Alabama Chicken and Re-animated Popcorn Magnates

Thanks to the advancements of channel selection, digital video recorders and Nintendo handhelds, I pay little attention to commercials anymore. However, there are still times when I'm caught off guard and I found myself glued to an advertisement that inspires me to dedicate a blog post to them.

Don't Let's Restart

Right now I'm staring at a blank blog page. Well, not anymore since I just typed the words "Right now I'm staring at a blank blog page" and this follow-up sentence. The point I'm trying to make is that I'm entirely lost for something to write. To add to my frustration, a helpful little box that blossoms from the task bar keeps asking me to restart my computer. I really don't want to so I don't know why it keeps insisting.

My Q-Zar Free Decade

This year, I will be celebrating ten years since I last partook in a game of Q-Zar. I can't say that I miss it.
